The plain-language agreement between you and LawyerService for using the app and the client portal.
These terms are a binding agreement between you and LawyerService ("we", "us") for use of the lawyerservice.com website, the practice-management application and the client portal (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service for a firm, you confirm you have authority to bind that firm.
LawyerService is a software workspace for managing a legal practice and keeping clients informed. We are not a law firm, we do not practise law, and nothing in the Service is legal advice. Using the Service does not create an advocate-client relationship with us. Document templates, the Legal Directory, the old-to-new code converter and AI answers are informational aids for professionals; the advocate is solely responsible for verifying anything before relying on it or filing it.
For the case and client data you record, you are the data fiduciary. You confirm that you are entitled to store that information, that you will use portal sharing consistently with your duty of confidentiality, and that your use of the Service complies with the Advocates Act, 1961, Bar Council of India rules and the DPDP Act, 2023. The transparency portal shares only what you explicitly mark as shared; choosing what to share is your professional decision.
Ask AI answers questions from a case's uploaded documents. It runs only after you switch on AI consent globally and enable it on the specific case, and you can withdraw either at any time. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. It cites its sources so you can check them, and you should always check them; professional responsibility for anything you use remains yours. AI processing runs in Indian regions, as described in the Privacy Policy.
The client portal is free for invited clients. Lawyer plans start with a free trial, then a paid subscription at the prices shown on the pricing page, plus applicable taxes. Subscriptions renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before any price increase takes effect for you. Cancellation and refunds are covered by the Refunds & Cancellation policy.
You own the data you put into the Service. You give us only the limited licence needed to host, process, back up and display it in order to provide the Service, following your sharing choices. We do not use your content for advertising or to train AI models. You can export your data at any time, and for 90 days after cancellation.
eCourts lookups fetch public court records through a third-party data service, and court-holiday calendars are compiled from official court notifications. These sources can lag or contain errors, so always verify critical dates against the court's own record. The Legal Directory is a reference aid and may not reflect the very latest amendments.
We aim to keep the Service available around the clock but do not promise uninterrupted operation; maintenance, upstream outages and events beyond our control can cause downtime. We may improve or change features over time. If we ever discontinue the Service or a material feature, we will give reasonable notice and keep your data exportable.
You may stop using the Service and cancel at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these terms, after notice where practicable. On termination, data handling follows the retention section of the Privacy Policy.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties, and our total aggregate liability for any claims arising out of the Service is limited to the subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for outcomes of legal proceedings. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
You will indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your content or your breach of these terms, including claims from your clients about data you recorded or sharing choices you made.
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have exclusive jurisdiction, after a good-faith attempt to resolve the dispute with us directly.
Questions and complaints go to support@lawyerservice.com. Our Grievance Officer acknowledges within 48 hours and aims to resolve within 15 days.
We may update these terms. For material changes we will notify you by email or in-app notice at least 15 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated terms.
